Why We Fight

Calvin and Susie argue. “Jesus fucking Christ, dude! I’m sick of this shit! I don’t want to be in a semantical argument right now!” “You mean semantic, not semantical,” I stated matter-of-factly. It was that little statement that defined the difference between us. It was that little statement that would continue to crop up at [...] Read more »

Through the Woods

The mountains above Chiang Mai are lush and beautiful. For more aerie pictures of Thailand, click here. I awake to the sound of a rooster signaling sunrise. As I peel my eyes open, there is no difference, the darkness identical beneath my eyelids as outside. I consider getting up to watch the sunrise, but my [...] Read more »

Misery Amplified

It didn’t bother me that I was getting trounced nor that I was obviously outmatched. What bothered me was that in previous games, [...] Read more »

A Return to Youth

Something has been lost in the MMORPG designs of today. I’m not sure it’s something that can be recaptured, but perhaps it bears examination. A Brief History of Role Playing Games RPGs have been around for eons. Perhaps not in the very organized dice rolling, stats accumulating form of today’s generation of RPGs, but in [...] Read more »

Freaks & Geeks

I’ve spent the last two days in a counter cultural mecca of freaks and geeks. And it was glorious. As part of my regular abuse of my press privileges, I snagged press passes to Nan Desu Kan for myself, Jeff (who does the Acid Lounge on Radio 1190), and Steph (who does the weekend morning [...] Read more »
