A More Perfect Union

Image taken from Walyou.com “You,” she said, a wry smile slipping slyly across her face, “are a logistical nightmare.” I can’t deny it. I’m rarely prepared and I like it that way. Though I may learn from my game-changing mistakes, I often choose to ignore the little ones that add just a touch of challenge. [...] Read more »

Throw It Back

Fenway Park during a night game. When school let out on a game day, there was always a desire to take my allowance for the week and wind my way down to Kenmore Square for a Red Sox game. At only eight dollars, bleacher seats were downright affordable, and those lovable losers, always in the [...] Read more »

Lieutenant Rhine’s Violin

4 October, 2008 (02:37) | Travelogue | View Comments

It is pure happenstance that I’m sleeping across the way from an old man. Across the aisle, he slips his suitcase beneath the bed and pulls out a bottle of Pilsner. “Smart man,” I say, smiling and nodding at him. I’m still a little bit buzzed from Oktoberfest. “Just a few sips before bed,” he [...] Read more »

Leaving It On The Floor

I was never much into watching basketball. Why watch a sport I’d rather be playing? Sure, every once in a while I’d break down and catch a few games here or there, but for the most part I didn’t care unless it was the NCAA tournament or playoff basketball. That all changed in high school. Read more »

“I hope you can see this. Because I am doing it as hard as I can.” – Ignignokt As most of you have heard, several days ago Boston was brought to a standstill by an apparent terrorist plot involving those lovable Mooninites from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. When LED signs appeared under overpasses and in [...] Read more »

Wrap, Nap, Crap

25 July, 2004 (19:17) | Growing Up | View Comments

I like naps. I really do. In high school, I fixed my schedule so that I slept for 3 hours when I got home, did homework until late in the night and slept 3 hours before going back to school. It worked far better than trying to get work done at the end of the [...] Read more »

Deep Thoughts With Wee Willy Willikins

Matty B has decided gifts suck, so he’s started giving out “gift certificates.” Not from a store, though. From him. It’s not a bad idea. In fact, I’d even use this idea and I’ve seen it suggested before as a “voucher system.” You know, mother’s day rolls around and you spent your last few bucks [...] Read more »

Rivalry Etiquette?

12 October, 2003 (09:46) | Sports | View Comments

Jesus, all hell broke loose yesterday at Fenway, and, quite frankly, I’m still recovering. I slept 14 hours last night since I’ve been having trouble waking up and need to get on a normal schedule. Of course, I slept 14 hours after staying up 30 in order not to sleep through the game. So now [...] Read more »

Murder on the Highway

23 September, 2002 (22:58) | Dreams | View Comments

Whomever we were, we were taking a road trip, across the entire nation, spilling from city to city like a rip tide running across sand castles left from the day. Damn, that’s poetic. We went to people’s houses and spent afternoons hanging out and chatting, and then hopped back in the van and drove. It [...] Read more »
