Bragging Rights

Right now, I really want to brag about how I got to see a midnight showing of The Dark Knight while most of you were still enjoying your Thursday morning coffee. Guam’s slogan is “Where America’s day begins!” after all.
But instead of grinning ear to ear about the movie or how early I got to [...] Read more »

I am Spartacus… Or at Least I Used to Be…

Last week, and I sat down with a few friends and watched Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus. Spartacus, a 3-hour epic gladiator starring Kirk Douglas movie that included an overture and intermission due to its length, is one of ’s favorite films and was recently released in a Criterion edition DVD, marking its greatness for all [...] Read more »

Evil Under Your Fingernails

Tonight I watched the documentary Jesus Camp. By ten minutes in, I was disgusted and scared for the future of humanity. It’s not because of the fervor these kids show, but rather the fervor the adults guiding them show.

Everybody should have seen A League of Their Own at some point in time. Last night, I went to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which I will review another time if I feel like it), and as we were coming out, Marie and I started arguing about A League of Their Own. [...] Read more »

Beautiful Girls

21 December, 2003 (19:53) | Film | No comments

After spending yesterday jamming with Tim, I borrowed some of his DVDs: The classic The Count of Monte Cristo, the black comedy featuring Ice Cube, Barbershop, and the 20-something comedy Beautiful Girls. The first two were good, but Beautiful Girls surprised and amazed me.
My only issue with it is that it’s so obviously written by [...] Read more »

CQ

The oddity of film never ceases to amaze me. If I wasn’t so disillusioned with the media (my chosen career path), I might never have found the glory that is film. Of course, many of you point out that I haven’t found the glory that is film based on the fact that movies like Big [...] Read more »
